[Writing Post] Back on the Horse

Posted by reudaly on May 28, 2014 in Conventions, Writing |

Yes, I know you got a pen blog yesterday – and now suddenly BAM! It’s Wednesday! Time warpy (even just in thought processes) days are always…unsettling. But now it’s time to get back on track, in more ways than one.

Back on the horse… I did fall down on the writing front the last week or so with Dallas Comic Con and a holiday in quick succession. But I’m now determined – and I have a deadline for which it’s time to stop screwing around and get to it (hello, Redheads). My plan is to have a significant amount (if not all) of a draft of my part of the next Redheads done by SoonerCon (which is one month away). That way there’s plenty of time for revisions of my own before the others get a hold of it.

There’re are a couple of other things that also absolutely MUST get done. I have to finish reading a book for a friend – it’s for feedback. But initial response is good – WHEN it’s published I’ll let you know. There’s so much I WANT to work on that I let myself get overwhelmed for a few days. Now it’s hunkering down and just doing the work.

Last night I was back up on that horse. It’s time to do more and be more consistent. I just had a story come back from a publisher, need to get that back out. I’ve been focusing so much on longer works that I’ve not done any short stories for a while, that should probably get squeezed in as well. But that just means focusing and putting one pen stroke ahead of the next – and part of that is staying on task with the blog as well as the fiction…

So, while I still have some lunch hour left, I shall say a fond farewell and try to get some fictional words written – or type up the ones I’ve already put down.
