Late last week I did the super long post about ArmadilloCon and the stuff going on with me. That blog is here if you want to read that – it’s really long.

To recap – one of the big topics (for me) at ArmadilloCon was Writer’s Block and some of the epiphanies I had about that. And now I can do a (short) compare and contrast this year from the last several…

I did come back from ‘Dillo refreshed and creatively recharged – that was something that I felt in previous years that petered out pretty quickly.

What’s the same about this year? Welp, I didn’t have the Day Job Stressors hanging over my head. I did have stressors – last week was, indeed, a complete wash for completely LEGIT REASONS. The only thing I wrote was the blog and some journaling. I had a stumble on my Work In Progress (WIP) that I hadn’t worked out yet — a pretty big one. I didn’t know who my Villain was. I had a name, but not the person.

What’s different? In the last several years, that would’ve been that. The WIP put down indefinitely, maybe some piddling with other projects. BUT…this is where I know a corner has been turned. Yesterday…out of the blue, my Villain introduced herself. I know who she is now. I know how she works–mostly–and why she’s the Villain.

This is HUGE for me. Why do I mention it? If you’re reading this and struggling with blocks? Be kind and gentle with yourself (that’s a super hard lesson to learn), it does get better. You can get it all back, it just may take some time to come back.
