The Writing Side of Things

Welcome to February…Yay! We made it out of December! Woo. As I started this, I thought it was going to be long. I was not wrong. I think I’ll break this post up into smaller things – single topics. Maybe that’ll help me be better about posting.

Strictly Come Writing

Good news – I was asked to be in a flash fiction anthology. I wrote a story to the prompt. Had it accepted – ALL WELL BEFORE THE DEADLINE. When I have more information, I’ll be sure it’s distributed far and wide.

Y’all, I don’t know if you know how big of a deal that is. It has been SO VERY long. I had doubts about it. Which (if you’re a newer writer reading this) is:

1. Why you let things sit after you write them for a bit.

2. When you’ve been out of the game so long, it’s like being a new writer. I’m proving myself again – both to publishers AND to myself.

3. Again, for the newer writers/artists – this is something that never goes away.

So, of course, I’m still figuring out what I’m writing next. Still plugging away at things. Still getting plot bunnies galore – enough to have a brief thought about maybe making my own story prompt book. I have loved all the ones I’ve gotten from Piccadilly. I’ve started working through the one I got at Christmas.

The thing is – what to do with those exercises? Do I:

1. Submit them to flash fiction markets?

2. Post them here like I did before? (They won’t necessarily be in order – the first prompt is holiday themed)

3. Keep them for a new indie anthology – maybe with some of the better old ones?

4. Start a Patreon/Substack (not that anyone else has money EITHER – and I’d have to learn Substack?) and use them as bonus content?

Appearances – Guess what? There are some – these are confirmed! Because Book Fairs are now a THING!
