Yes, I’m a PC girl. I’ve always been a PC girl, and I always will — and by the subject line, hopefully you realize this is computer related. If you read that as “politically correct” and have since spit stuff on your computer – I deeply and humbly apologogize.

I’ve also become a Microsoft Office person in the last many years simply because it’s the Publishing Industry Standard. I would’ve loved staying a WordPerfect person, but then I had 5 or 6 file versions of every document instead of 3 or 4.

So, unless the Publishing Industry all rises up and says, “NO MORE” to the Evil Empire, or somehow the Canadian company that sued Microsoft in an East Texas Court has their injunction again Word upheld (again — apologies to the keyboards). I will STAY a PC and WORD girl. Open Office isn’t quite viable for me yet.

I have nothing against Macs. I speak Mac. I’m bilingual. Some of my best friends are Mac people. I. AM. NOT.

Okay. That said. This morning I as I started working on my StrangeWords article I noticed something weird. Most of my WORD default settings were…gone. The autoformat that takes out the SmartQuotes and ordinals and weird crap that glitches up when you email stuff — turned back on. My default margin settings not only were NOT my default 1″ margin all around. NOR was it WORD’s default setting of 1.25″ R/L. It came up 0.5″ R/L? HUH? Where did THAT come from?

Guess it’s just technology keeping me on my toes. And amazingly enough, I noticed before I had LESS than 1/2 my first cup of coffee.
