So here we are… back from the Epic Road Trip to the East Coast. 16 states in 11 day (hello, unexpected West Virginia). I may have to make a collage of the “welcome to” signs. I think we got all of them, but a couple of states apparently are kind of “meh” about those. Today is a “reclaim” day –

Reclaim:

  • The desk from stuff that got piled on it.
  • The inbox from stuff that got piled in it.
  • My writing brain from its break of fighting to be creative.
  • Eating habits from being on the road
  • We were able to get the mountains of laundry done.

The new dog sitter was AMAZING. We have her booked for the conventions we’re going to in June and September.

The nephew was the impetus behind the trip. He has graduated from college and is now back home.

It was so good to see the family/friends we did. Did I take photos of all of them? No. But we got to see one of Jimmy’s cousins, one of MY cousins, and our good friends, Nicole and Dave.

It ended up being a very “literary” trip – HP Lovecraft, Gertrude Chandler Warner (Boxcar Children), Louisa May Alcott, H Beam Piper (tried to find his Altoona gravesite, but that cemetery has not been maintained but we gave it a good try). And I have WAY too many pens/pencils from the various museums, bookstores, and stationary stores we found along the way. There was also art. We did go to Frank Frazetta’s museum in East Stroudsburg.

I took off all the “Coulda/Shoulda/Woulda” hats for this trip. I took writing and journaling with me. I did none of it and refused to feel guilty about it. But now it’s time to take that recharge and focus back.
