WIP – Warts and All (2)
Okay, so since one person asked for more… 😎 Here, have a little more.
The croak followed by a crash, as he stumbled to his door and slammed it against its stops. The “Help!” also came out as a weird, almost unrecognizable and barely audible ribbity rumble.
“Christoph! Dear, breakfast!”
The prince’s mother, Queen Linnea, swept into view, screamed and stumbled into the serving girl carrying his breakfast tray, scattering eggs, bread and fruit down the corridor. The serving girl squeaked and fainted, crumpling into a ball on the floor.
“Mom! Wait! It’s me.” His voice still sounded odd, but at least it sounded more like a voice than before even if it wasn’t his voice. However, Christoph didn’t hold out much hope that she’d believe him.
Fortunately for him, there was some instinct that must’ve triggered in his mother. “Christoph! What have you done!”
“I haven’t done anything, Mom, I swear!”
Linnea harrumphed and thumped her fists on her hips. “Young man, now is not the time for denial. Now get dressed and come downstairs. We must fix this immediately. Your father is not going to like this. He’s not going to like it one bit.”
“Um, Mom?”
Linnea turned to head back the way she came, but paused and turned back to her son. He flinched from her glare. “What?”
“What about Sara?”
