Thanks to All and to All a Good Night

Posted by reudaly on December 19, 2010 in Life |

I wanted to publicly thank my fellow cast and crew of the Arlington Community Church presentation of A Mountain Memory Christmas this morning. I had a blast working with all of you on this. Ya’ll made it a lot of fun to step out of my “comfort zone” and try a new medium of creativity. And when you hear professional actors talk about working with people who’re better making THEM better — totally true. Trust me. TOTALLY true.

Believe it or not, this was one of my first “big” acting roles – I’ve had lines and stuff hear and there (and convention stuff as an Apocalyptic Redhead doesn’t count as ACTING, but not like this one. It was fun having a “faux-family”. I got most of my lines out in pretty much the right order…sorta. The story didn’t suffer. The audience seemed to enjoy it. So all is well with the world. But it’s also that “bittersweet” ending – like with Scarborough. Miss the folks involved – don’t necessarily miss the WORK involved.

And I know some of you out there don’t (or won’t) believe that this was definitely a limb that I stepped out on, but it was. I’ve been “Behind the Scenes” for so long, it was definitely a new move to be ON Stage for more than a walk on line or part of a choir. And telling a story on paper is MUCH different than telling a story on a stage (even a little one that’s predisposed to like anything you do anyway).

I’m not saying I’ve been BITTEN by the acting bug, but I have been nibbled on. This experience has done a LOT to erase some Middle School scars that have kept acting from being something I’ve considered attempting. This was fun. Writing will always be my focus and passion, but dang, acting is COOL. Thanks again, guys, for the fun experience.
