[Spotlight] This Week’s Spotlight is Preempted… Except for an ArmadilloCon Programming Preview

Posted by reudaly on July 20, 2012 in Conventions, Life, Spotlight |

This has been a crazy week with job nibbles — including about 3 hours of software assessments that have left me completely brain much.
A new self-publishing endeavor (it does seem to be coming together, though last night’s events may or may not effect that) has presented itself this week. Here’s hoping it works out.

I downloaded this from my cousin’s, Mallory, facebook page. She and her dad were in the theater. They’re unharmed, but we pray for everyone who is touched by this tragedy

And in light of last night’s events, I’ve not felt “spotlighty” today.

I’ll be completely back on track next week – even with ArmadilloCon next week. Here’s my preliminary programming scheduling. There’s good stuff here.

How Would an Alien Presence on Earth Affect Our Society?
Fri 8:00 PM-9:00 PM San Marcos
M. Bey, R. Eudaly, L. Person*, P. Roberts, P. Sarath
A classic “what if” scenario discussed by a panel of writers and scientists.
A Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr
Fri 10:00 PM-11:00 PM San Antonio
B. Crider, R. Eudaly, A. Goldsmith, J. Hall,
A Stump the Panel: Make Up an SF/F Use for an Everyday Object
Sat 1:00 PM-2:00 PM San Antonio
B. Denton, R. Eudaly*, S. Gould, S. Leicht, T. Mallory, M. Muenzler
The audience supplies the items, and the panel provides the imagination.
Science Fiction & Fantasy Musicals
Sat 3:00 PM-4:00 PM Sabine
S. Allen, R. Eudaly*, L. Gorinsky, T. Salvaggio
Stage, TV, & Film: How has the musical worked as a dramatic form for our genres? What does it take to make this successful?
How Much Interaction Should Writers Have with Their Readers?
Sat 6:00 PM-7:00 PM San Marcos
A. Allston, R. Eudaly, R. Frater, J. Mandala, A. Martinez*, A. Porter
Spending time with your readers in person and online can be good for your ego and an effective way to promote your work. How do you keep it from taking too much time and negatively affecting your creative process?

I’ll also be helping out with the Art Auction on Saturday night, and I’ll update when they let us know when autographings and readings are.

Thanks for understanding.
